Welcome to Essex County's only ghost town. Once upon a time, Olinda was our region's cultural and economic centre, with their biggest industries being iron mining and produce growing. Some of the first apple and pear trees in the area were planted in Olinda soil. Once the iron furnace closed down, residents left and the village became abandoned. What remains of Olinda now sits quietly in the heart of the county, surrounded by orchards nearly 200 years old.
